Miss Barbados World Contestant's FAQ Is the pageant legitimate? Miss Barbados World is the ONLY national pageant which is legally mandated to select a winner to represent Barbados at Miss World. How Do I become a Miss Barbados World Contestant? You just have to ensure that you meet the requirements listed below: · You must be between the ages of 18-24 ( underage contestants must have parental consent) · You must be a naturally born female · You must never have given birth or be currently pregnant · You should not be married or ever been married · You should not have appeared in any girly magazines · You should not have committed be charged with or convicted for any criminal offence · You should have a clean police certificate of character · You must be a native of Barbados by birth or decent If you meet the above criteria you will be notified of the screening date, where you will physically audition and undergo an interview. Should you be unable to attend the screening you may submit photos or video about your interest in entering the pageant. What kind of pictures and videos can be submitted? You can submit three photos (portrait, swimwear & full-length shot) and a video outlining why you want to enter the pageant. Please note no photo that vulgarly reveals any part of the female anatomy will be allowed. How Many Contestants are allowed to enter? Everyone who passes the screening will be allowed to join the pageant. However, we select the best 15 contestants to be in the final competition. What are the Stages of the pageant? The stages of the pageant are as follows: Prejudging – Beauty With A Purpose Project, Fitness Competition, Model/Fashion Competition, Official Launch – Public Speaking, Charity Work, Attendance; Finale of Competition: Swimwear, Talent, Evening Wear & Interview Segment. The People’s Choice Award is decided by the public via online voting. What Can a Contestant do to help garner points? We encourage each contestant to actively participate in all events on the official itinerary. You should try to gain maximum points from the pre-judging events because these points will be added to your scores on the final night of competition. Can I interact with the public? Definitely! In this contest, you have to interact with people for higher chances of getting bigger votes. You may interact with them through the forum in the site. You may even receive gift from them from the merchandises. We respect your privacy so we will be the one to send the gifts to you through the address that you will provide. We strongly advise all the contestants not to give out personal information such as IM names, address and contact number. How are the winners chosen? All of our categories are judged by a panel of professional individuals who have made a significant contribution to fashion, education, entertainment and culture in Barbados or throughout the world. Unlike traditional beauty pageants, our pools of judges are all professionally qualified in their areas of expertise. To be eligible to be a Miss Barbados World judge, you just need to email us your biography; resume and a high resolution photo which will be forwarded to our judges’ coordinator Mrs. KimTara Amory-Clarke. Well we’d say the best price is the prestige and the opportunity to become a beauty title holder thus, exposing the winner to a golden privilege from our sponsors. The winner of Miss Barbados World receives the opportunity to represent Barbados at Miss World. Other prizes include weekends for two, dinners, lunches, clothes, jewelry, scholarships & many more!! How do I receive my prizes? Prizes will be sent distributed over the one year period to the top three places in accordance with the contractual agreement to ensure that all commitment to Miss Barbados World is maintained via the discretion of the franchise holder. How can you withdraw from the pageant? All you have to do is to contact the national director in writing for request of withdrawal. You will have to pay a fine for wasting our time and resources after which your profile will be removed. Your withdrawal will be announced through the updates in the site. Please be reminded that we are not lenient in letting people withdraw from the contest so please make sure about your decision upon entering the contest.
